Last Tuesday*s Radio Show Can Be Heard Here on Podcast
Last Sunday, in a piece entitled “A Radio Show I Especially Commend to Your Attention,” I reported that on that Tuesday morning, on my Virginia radio show, I hoped to convey more fully than I feel I generally do “who I am, what I’m about, what I value, and why my views of things should be of any interest to [that radio] audience.”
After the show was broadcast, there was some discussion of the show on that thread. One NSBer who’d heard the show on the Internet –a possibility that we’ll presumably have henceforth– was encouraging in his evaluation of the show. I indicated my own uncertainties about my performance.
Fortunately, it is now available to anyone to hear at a time of their own choosing. At least for now, the station has posted a podcast of the program. It is in two parts.

The format of talk radio I think makes it difficult to lay out any comprehensive description of what you believe has been going on. Yet you did a remarkable job of touching on MANY of these elements – historically, politically, philosophically, economically, etc. I couldn’t have done it without a fully prepared (written) speech, and no interuptions! What I like about your performance is that you could usually call to mind specific examples to document your points, and mostly extemporaneously. In addition, I was quite surprised (well I guess I shouldn’t have been) at how well your theme of the search for truth played out and was recognized by audience members. Not just that I bought it, but that some of the callers granted you that. I suspect that they have been hearing you over the years, and this means you have built and earned credibility even with those who disagree with you. You (and the host) mentioned some credentials that provide you with intellectual cred, and you built on that with reference to your Dad’s ethic about truth and objective research. It really worked, and BTW such filial learning and devotion HAD to have impressed the listeners/callers, as a conservative value. I can really relate to it as well, as I’m constantly crediting my Dad with impressing on us kids that education is a life’s journey, something that doesn’t end with a sheepskin.
The program was about YOU, yet you were able to lay out many content areas toward your real objective (i.e., to get listeners to see some truths).
